review 1: An entertaining holiday read from an Aussie author, very funny crime of the Janet Evanovich school. Kooky investigative journalist Scout Davis complete with mandatory sidekick cat... Only annoying feature was the main characters constant detailed references to her diabetes - I assume the author is diabetic and wants us all to learn about managing the disease but it got REALLY ANNOYING! Still, enjoyed it enough to seek out the second book Good News Bad News which I am reading now.
review 2: Sigh, I really want to like Australian chic-lit but its just so lame. This book was slow to take off, I found it clunky to read and I was annoyed at the attempts the author made to validate the main character starting an affair with her partners best friend. Also the constant... more referral to her diabetes and its management - felt like i was reading a pamphlet on 'why diabetics are just like normal people, except for the needles'. Please! less
