review 1: Mark Slater, aka Joshua Barker is a convicted child murderer from ten years ago. Supposedly he and Adam Campbell brutally tortured, beat and murdered little Abby Morgan. But Mark knows he did not kill this child. Mark is under a different identity, working and having a relationship with Natalie and has to check in with his parole officer frequently. He is to have no contact with Adam, the Morgan family, or even go anywhere near the spot where she was killed. Natalie found a letter and she discovers who this boyfriend of hers really is and dumps him. She has enough issues of her own from almost being raped as a child. Mark goes off to try and ease his conscience by getting close to Abby Morgans sister, Rachel. He needs to see how his actions affected all those involved so h... moree can put this to rest. He also finds himself in contact with the evil, psychopath Adam again. Mark needs to make things good and set things straight. Even if it costs him Natalie, his freedom and maybe even his life. I really enjoyed this suspenseful book. It was scarey and shocking. I started to figure plot out about half way through. The language was a little raw and the typo's frequent. I really enjoyed the story line and the powerful characters. Very gripping and believable. I really want to read more this authors work.
review 2: Guilty Innocence is a strong psychological thriller and an unusual story written with excellent characterizations of damaged people trying to go forward with their lives but unable to escape the horrors of the past. The story line and Ms. James writing draw you into these desperate lives and keep you turning pages, looking for what happens next in tempo with the characters themselves. A very good read! less
