review 1: Interesting story from a different continent. I think that it is interesting to explore the actions and preparations that someone in, well, a less free part of the world can take upon the start of a zombie apocalypse. I take it as given that, as an American, I live in a country that has more guns than people and overall seems better positioned to handle an event vs a society that restricts access and training to readily available weapons.
review 2: Apocalypse Z by Manel Loureiro is an horror novel about an incident that happens in Russia and a potential infectious disease is spread. A lawyer who still is mourning over the loss of his wife, begins to write as a form of therapy. The lawyer never expected that his blog would record the last days of humanity. The... more end of the world has started!!!!!!! The government continues to scramble and try to fight the disease but their efforts aren't enough. Soon it becomes every man, woman, and child for themselves. Equipped with only household tools as weapons and the determination to live, as loner will fight to give mankind one last chance at survival.There are several things i dislike about the book. The dialogue in the story is very vulgar, and it seems that the writer could not have expressed his self in a more sophisticated way. Another thing i dislike about the book is that it doesn’t describe in detail incidents in the book. They could have been a little more descriptive with their writing. There are a few things i like about the book as well. Throughout the book one of the main characters continues to encounter crazy situations but still manages to survive them. What’s interesting to me is that he is only a lawyer. Being only a lawyer it’s very intriguing to me how he escapes these situations alive. Another thing i like about the book is that every page keeps you on the edge of your seat. For example the group is driving the down the street and suddenly a zombie runs and jumps on the truck and then a crew member that you never expected to get infected gets infected. Despite the lack of descriptiveness and the feed of vulgarity this is an very interesting book. If you are a person who likes being surprised and on the edge of your seat then this is the book for you. On the other hand if you’re a person who likes calm books, or books that you can relate to; this is not the book for you. This is the total opposite!!! I would probably second guess reading this book because it gives you chills, but the genre and premise of the book makes you value life a lot more than you do. less
