review 1: A nice writing about the pre-WW2 period in Morocco and Spain, considering the fact that it was elaborated nearly 70 years after. I enjoyed the way the characters develop and how the intrigue is growing. At some points I even wanted to skip the pages, but I kept reading and I finished it in 3 days of full-reading. It's a very pleasant way of understanding the social life and problems during the Spanish Civil War and at the beginning of the World War 2, with lots of well documented historical references that make you wonder whether this story is true or is just a very good fiction. Absolutely must read!

The novel drags in many sections and yet other important facts are left out and seemingly important conversations cut short. The protagonist, Sira, makes decisions in her life that, personally, I find unbelievable due to the fact that no realistic motivation is explained. As stated by USA Today, "...The Time in Between will appeal more to fans of romance novels...". less
