Coming into the new year I’ve realised a few things.
a) Book vouchers are the best christmas gifts.b) I came home from Sydney with a suitacse full of new books.
c) I will need to purchase another bookcase.
But aside from that I thought as a way of helping you guys get to know me and what I love to read I’d give you a tour of my bookshelves. Currently I have two large black bookscases and one smaller white bookcase. I purchased these from my local Kmart for a low price, since I seem to be filling them at an alarming rate. It was only in late November I bought my small white bookcase as the books where piling up on my desk.
My books were the first thing I set up in this new house I rather recently moved into. This bookcase is more of my mix and match, there really is no order to how I arranged it. There are books from my childhood like Max Remy Super Spy and Disney’s Tinkerbell, to Jamie Olive Cookbooks (the comfort food one is my favourite). I also store my DVDs, Playstation, Nintendo and PC games on the bottom. On top is my little box of secrets – filled with wonderfully witchy things – as well as my pegboard and other trinkets I’ve collected on my overseas adventures.
My second black bookcase is home to some of my more prized books: the old and collectable. I’ve collected these beautiful books from all over the country, from the bustling city streets of Sydney to the quiet country town of Uralla (shout out to Burnett’s Books). Poetry, philosophy, short stories, old school teachings and wonderfully written novels, some of which are almost 200 years old. There’s also a thousand notebooks filled with scribbled words and ideas for books and songs.
Now to the new stuff: my white shelf. Here is home to some of my favourite novels: the fantasy adventures that take me away from the boring reality of the ‘real world’. Most of these are still in the ‘to be read’ pile, but I love them all the same. I can’t help but smile when I see these beautiful books staring back at me. To top it all off is my fish Agent Bubbles (#Lilo&Stitch), flowers, my FunkoPops and that’s adorable photo of little me peaking from behind.
Having just come home from three weeks in Sydney on holidays visiting family my new books are looking from a place to call their own, and I’m off to buy another bookcase so these gems can have their own pride of place amongst their friends.
