review 1: I love strong female characters! Sira starts off as a naive young girl, but life turns her into a clever, audacious, and brave woman, who ends up playing an instrumental role in what is usually a man's game. With an exciting narrative that transports us from Madrid to Tetuan, and then back to Madrid, we see how Sira evolves from being a simple seamstress and uses her talent to accomplish her mission.
review 2: I gave this book four stars because there were a few places I just skimmed because it was repetitive. I get cranky when the author doesn't give the reader credit for having a memory. However, I thought this was an excellent story. I learned lots about the Spanish side of WWII and the story moves along very well with lots of different elements and twists.
