review 1: I love strong female characters! Sira starts off as a naive young girl, but life turns her into a clever, audacious, and brave woman, who ends up playing an instrumental role in what is usually a man's game. With an exciting narrative that transports us from Madrid to Tetuan, and then back to Madrid, we see how Sira evolves from being a simple seamstress and uses her talent to accomplish her mission.
review 2: I gave this book four stars because there were a few places I just skimmed because it was repetitive. I get cranky when the author doesn't give the reader credit for having a memory. However, I thought this was an excellent story. I learned lots about the Spanish side of WWII and the story moves along very well with lots of different elements and twists. ... moreIt's one of those books that's hard to put down. less
