review 1: Been saving this for a day when I needed a pick me up. Glad that I did, for truly I needed this delightful story today. Loved Marcia's take on the Twelve Dancing Princesses. :) I fell instantly in love with so many characters! I would like story now on each Princess, wink wink. Filled with just enough adventure to keep me anxiously enthralled, and just enough romance to keep me blissfully satisfied! :)
review 2: The Waiting is Over, Let the Dancing Commence! The author had to delay the publication of this book and I (im)patiently waited, & waited for it. Well, the waiting is over!! I had been eager for the book's release because I've read every one of MLM's books and I needed a new FIX! Based on the cover alone, I assumed the book was a regency era romance with
... more a masquerade ball, mistaken identities... well, I was mistaken. Evony and her siblings start out as a bit of a mystery; why is she 'hiding' Mikol & Tressa and what happened in their lives that has left them destitute but for Evony's seamstress position with the 'wicked witch' boss? We don't have to wait long for answers as Stavos stumbles into their lives. He is a Prince, come to solve the mystery of the kingdoms 12 weary princesses and in doing so, securing one of them as his bride. Evony tells Stavos that she has information that can help him in his quest. She has been unable to know who to trust, but trusting him for her soul tells her she should, she gradually tells him all she knows and helps him to solve the mystery. Having solved it is only part of the puzzle, however. It then is time for Stavos to present himself to the king, avoid the stupor that has rendered previous champions unconscious for days, reveal the cause of the princesses' fatigue, and champion not only the princesses, but Evony and her siblings, and save the true royal families and the kingdoms from the evil behind it all. Whew, that was a mouthful!! Oh, did I forget to mention any romance? Stavos is enchanted with Evony and MLM finds wonderful times and places for her signature delicious kissing scenes to occur. While Evony loses her heart to Stavos, she knows she cannot have him and bravely carries on. I loved Evony the devoted and strong willed big sister providing for and protecting her younger siblings. I also loved the kids and Miss Lovie, their true friend. Stavos is a brave, strong & gregarious MLM hero. He's almost too excited about facing his challenges, but then there is an adventure seeking man for you! The story is enchanting and you love or hate the characters depending upon what side of the mystery they fall. This is MLM's retelling of a favorite childhood fairy tale, 'The Twelve Dancing Princesses', not one with which I was familiar. I'm sure her version has far more kissing than any other version. (This book doesn't feel like a children's story AT ALL though. I didn't know of the fairy tale connection until after reading the book). Get this book and enjoy the adventure and romance and see if good once again can vanquish evil! Enjoy!! This book was definitely worth the wait!!!! less

maybe I should stop reading books based on fairy tales for awhile. Seemed rather flat to me.
