The Elders and Welders Chronicles
review 1: I'd give it 3.5 stars. There was some interesting world-building going on, but I wished it had been fleshed out more. I wanted to know more about the elders (how they came to be and what it is they actually do) and about the Crimean War. It's also a little light on the Steampunk elements (at least for my tastes). But all in all, it's a entertaining, quick read and I'll be reading the rest of the series.
review 2: This book. I am so very happy I stumbled upon it on this website and that my sister has a kindle. She bought it for me and I was instantly hooked. She was astonished by how quickly I read the book and how many times I put it down swearing I would hold off reading it (which usually lasted about two seconds). The world that Margaret Foxe created in this
... morebook is a steampunk, semi-paranormal world that is just fantastic! I fell in love with Aline and her bookish ways the moment she appeared and don't even get me started on Sasha. This book had me screaming at my sister's kindle while she stared at me in confusion. It is filled with adventure, mystery, romance and brooding Russian professors. It was everything I could have wanted in a book and more. The only downside to the book that has now become one of my all-time-favorites is that I have to wait to read the second one (which I hope we will be getting a preview for soon) and the fact that I can't buy this book paperback. The preview of the book on this website is dead-on right. It gives just enough away to entice you in, but leaves a whole lot of plot out. Who doesn't want to read a book with a haunted hero, a bookish heroin, amazing supernatural minor characters, gambling, vampires, romance, betrayal, deception and did I mention steamy romance? Ms. Margaret Foxe doesn't disappoint in Prince of Hearts. I highly recommend it to anyone that wants a book that they won't be able to put down from start to finish. less

An new series for me - and a solid mix of steampunk with a quirky take on vampirism.
