review 1: CUTE!!!!This is a childrens folklore book rating P. I love the twist this takes on the original story. I like the author has the bears doing what we all imagine bears do which is sleep on straw and eat forest food. Like bugs and such. I think this is a good read for children in school. The illustations were fun and went along with the text very well. It was nice to read a more "realistic" take on the story. I would use this in the classroom as a compare and contrast book assignment.
review 2: 1. { Genre }: Traditional Literature2. { Summary }: Goldilocks, both bold and curious, finds her way into the three bears’ home. She finds the place a mess and out of the kindness of her good heart she cleans it. Tired from a long day, she sleeps and awakes to a startlin
... moreg surprise.3a. { Area for comment }: Content3b. { Critique }:
The 3 Bears and Goldilocks is a much kinder and gentler version of the traditional Goldilocks and the Three Bears.3c. { Critique Example }:Goldilocks plays the same bold and curious character, but seems to have more a purpose when she reaches the 3 bears home. She volunteers to clean the messy home, but still welcomes herself to some porridge. When she awakes to the bears, they seem just as surprised as she is. They describe her as “poor creature” and seem just as curious as Goldilocks was when she arrived. This version of the traditional Goldilocks and the Three Bears is still meant to convey the importance of advice, but instead of illustrating the bears as predators, they seem more humanized and gentler as to give Goldilocks no reason to fear even though she blasts off with fright.4. { Curriculum Connection }:I could see this title being utilized in a K to 3 classroom. Listening to your parents/elders is always important in the initial stages of growing up. Teachers could discuss this book as a way to introduce rules or guidelines in the classroom. Although the father does voice the literal word, “advice”, it also channels the message of listening and why it’s important - “I will listen to my teacher”, “I will follow the rules”. less
