review 1: I don't know if I would like these books so much if I would read them today (when I am all grown up) so I am not sure if my love for them is only sentimental. Apart from that previous fact those books gave me so much while I was growing up - magic, a bit of history, romantic love and real man (a bit brute men). I truly can read them over and over again and still be in love with the characters and the plot.
review 2: Not a bad read. This was a nice combination of historical fiction and fantasy - the two blended well together. I guess this book is classified as fantasy romance; I'm not a big romance reader, and I found the overall plot to be rather predictable, as I usually find romance tales to be. However, there was enough other stuff going on besides the roman... morece/sexual tension to hold my interest.The ending of the book felt more like a chapter ending rather than a novel ending, but that could be because this is book one of a series. Several plot threads (minor ones) were left open, so I assume those are picked up in subsequent books. That being said, the ending - while mild and predictable - was satisfying enough.Also, I was bugged by numerous typos and other grammatical errors, but it could have just been due to the version that I was reading. My cover doesn't match the cover here on Goodreads, so I guess mine is a different edition or a different translation (the book was originally written in Swedish).All in all, a quick and entertaining fantasy read. less
