review 1: I loved the feel of this book and, of course, the rotten characters, and that it was very different from most books out there. The only thing stopping it from a higher rating was that there wasn't anyone to root for, no real protagonist, and I'm not sure really what the plot was. It was a bit like an anthropological study of Rollrock Island--which I appreciate for being unique, but it meant my heart wasn't really engaged. Still, I loved to style and will definitely scope out more by this author.

An incredibly pretty story with an underlying sadness woven through out the entire book.

Ignore the cover (and to a lesser extent, the title) - this book is actually very good.
