review 1: I don't think I would have appreciated this book as much as I did had I not been to West Africa. It is wonderfully evocative of the spirit, sense of humour, environment, culture, and people of this region. That being said, I would have all the same enjoyed this graphic novel even if I hadn't. For anyone who may be curious about contemporary Africa, I would recommend this to them without reservation.
review 2: This book is the second part of Aya. Mamadou finds out he is the father of Bobby. Moussa started working with his father, and many more things happened. This book wasn't was good as the first one. It wasn't really interesting, you could tell what was going to happened. I liked the ending of the book because Aya's father was like strict, and then Ayas's
... morefather, Ignace, was cheating on Ayas mom, Fanta, with his secretary. Aya did go to work with him, and i knew that something bad was going to happened. It shows hoe not always eveyone is how you think they are, like Aya's father, I know Aya looked up to her dad, but when she found out about this she probably wasn't very happy. This is a problem all over the world, who people cheat on other people, and they dont aspect it. less

I liked it alot. Reminded me of Gilbert Hernandez's Palomar stories without the magic realism
