review 1: *4.5 stars* I have to say, as far as sequels go, Scent of Magic was very, very solid.While I don't think I am able to say that I enjoyed the second books more than the first (because I really loved the Touch of Power), I have to admit that I was very pleased with the progression of the plot. There was definitely nothing missing in this book - the action, suspense, and surprise were all on point. And, as I've mentioned before, I absolutely love Snyder's creation of characters; I just adore the main crew to pieces, as well as some surprising, additional side-characters as well. Many (and by many I mean most) female protagonists I have encountered have annoyed me at some point, but Avry is a package of awesome and Kerrick is the perfect companion for her. I have to admit to b... moreeing slightly nervous, however, as to how the third and final book will read, because of the intense developments in SoM. Due to how MUCH is going on right now, I can only hope that the plot will end in a complete arc with no loose ends. So, with tentativeness and hope, I will venture on to Taste of Darkness.The Healer trilogy is quickly becoming one of my new favourite high fantasies and the only regret I have is that the covers of these books do them utterly no justice (can someone please change this fact?).
review 2: My second time reading this book and I loved it just as much as the first time. Good plot development, lost of action, but also character development. Loads of intrigue and mystery. Not as much romance but that was fine with me. I could have done without the cliffhanger but then again it's quite typical for the second book of a trilogy.Now I can't wait to read the last one. less
