review 1: *Won a copy from Good Reads First Reads*I hadn`t heard of Marie Force until I won this book. I`m very happy that I have now discovered a new, brilliant author. Of course I couldn`t begin at book 4 so I got the other books in the series to start off at book 1.Grant McCarthy returns to Gansett Island for his sister Janeys wedding & to win back his long time love Abby. Abby is engaged to Cal & lets Grant know that there is no "Us" anymore. Grant meets Stephanie who is running the marina restaurant owned by his family. Grant soon discovers that beneath the arguing & bickering between himself & Stephanie lies something that terrifies him. He feels something that he never felt in all his years with Abby & he wonders if he was ever really in love with her. Stephanie has some majo... morer drama going on in her life & Grant hopes she`ll let him help ease some of the burden she has been dealing with for years on her own. As tropical storm Hailey brews, there is something brewing between these two that can't be denied.Stephanie is a sassy, spitfire of a woman. I love that she is not your typical heroine. She`s small, flat chested, not curvy & her hair may be multicolored but is red during the book. You also get more story lines from characters in the previous books. Janey & Joe`s wedding, the birth of Maddie & Mac`s baby, Ned & Francine reconnect & so much more. I love how all the books are a continuation from the previous stories & not only centered on the main love interests in the book.I can't wait to see what's in store for all the characters as the story continues!!
review 2: I'm going to come out and say it Grant McCarthy is kind of an ass. Seriously, his girlfriend for years moves back home to Gansett and he doesn't even really care until he hears she's seeing someone else and is engaged and then he decides he needs to do something about it. He sleeps with Stephanie and then pretends to be asleep while she dresses and leaves. There were so many times during this book I wanted to tell him to grow a pair and man up. Yes, I appreciate all that he does to help out Stephanie and her step-Dad and yes, he did kind of redeem himself but honestly I question if he was really raised by Big Mac and Linda McCarthy because he can be such an ass. This book was really busy with lots of other couples coming in to play and I would have liked to see Grant and Stephanie spend more time getting to know one another outside of the bedroom however, I still liked this book because I'm so wrapped up in the McCarthy family and Gansett Island. less
