review 1: To tell you the truth, this book was really well written... You look at it and think; interesting story, hot cover - I wanna read that! And well, I dunno about you guys, but for me the story fell kinda short for me.Sure the sex was BEYOND hot and diverse - no other word for it; but it felt like there was something missing - a little bit of spice that would make me fall in love with the characters (Maggie and Mac - the supporting characters; were actually more interesting).Even the plot, which at first seemed intriguing ended up being kind of boring. The story was basically about a sex crazed couple with huge communication problems and lots of people interferring in their lives. They both wanted the same thing, both were too scared to admit it and all those around them thoug... moreht they knew best when it came to the couple's love life.To be fair though, the book was very well written and well paced. The sex scenes were STEAMY and the dialogues had me cracking up - at times. Not a favourite book of mine, never mind a read again but nonetheless a nice - there's that word again as Shane would say - read.
review 2: A nicely written, well constructed novel that features two individuals who are both gun-shy of any kind of long-term relationship after having their trust shattered by their respective ex's and whose hearts are unwilling to let anyone new into the deeper reaches of their inner beings. Both Shelby and Shane have been shattered by the infidelity of the former relationships, they had decided on a "friends with benefits" liason, and now the story moves through their journey of struggle and healing as they try to renew their power to trust. Marie Harte has written lots of books and I had read a number of her paranormal (Cougar Falls series) novels and enjoyed them a lot. Now this contemporary romance showcases her ability to write about people that are living in a real world with real challenges, families who are just as dysfunctional and out-of-sync as all of our relatives, and having friends who are not afraid to interfere even when that butting in can make as many problems as it solves. It is a fun and entertaining and heart-warming romance and deserves to be read and appreciated. less
