review 1: At first, the story started really slow, so i wasn't sure about the reading. But more i was reading, more was being told about Arin and Kestrel, then things got better! Kestrel is very interesting. I like her since the begining! She is strong, passionate and clever! But Arin, took a little bit of time, to make me like him. At first, he was too demanding for a "slave", but with the pacing of the story, i could understand him better. The bond created between them is really a great match! Their moments are enthralling to read. I liked the whole word building. Actually, at first, the writter make us think that the slaves were the "savages", but actually, is the opposite! Actually, the Herranis (actual slaves) are the people into arts, music and gods, while the Valorians are th... moree brutes, the conquerors! So, all the time i was feeling curious to know what will happen between the people. How will  Herrani bring back justice to them? It's intriguing! I can't wait to read the sequel and know more about how will end to Arin and Kestrel. For sure, they'll have to deal with more dangerous plots. That was an excellent reading!
review 2: This book just a bit generic to me. I was actually quite fascinated at how this slave/master relationship is going to plan out, but I just couldn't care about the heroine, like, at all. The first chapter where we get introduced it just doesn't click. I have no problem with a high-society girl but she just doesn't, well, appear to be interesting. I won't rate this since I couldn't get pass the first chapter. less
