review 1: I liked the idea of a road trip with a mystery to solve. Especially with the unrequited love angle that had further complications due to age differences, family relationship, and tragedy. Unfortunately, the clues were easy to follow but the plot surrounding the brothers and what really happened was awkward and underdeveloped. It seemed to dwindle into a monologue like explanation at the end. The romance was a huge disappointment that fell flat.
review 2: 4-1/2 Stars!This turned out to be one of those books where I couldn’t read it fast enough, but then was sad it was over! The plot was very intriguing and well-paced. I thought the mystery was solid and I loved how the main characters, Aurora and Donovan, pieced everything together. Both Aurora and Donovan ... morewere likeable and interesting characters, especially Aurora, who was very self-aware and introspective. I think what I liked best though, was the way the author conveyed the emotions of the main characters. It was easy to step into their shoes and feel the loss, despair, anger, fear, hope and everything all over again, right there with the characters. If there was anything that wasn’t exactly a positive it was that once the mystery was solved, the momentum seemed to almost grind to a halt, before slowly picking up a bit again. I don’t think it was a flaw in the story, as much as it was probably just my perception after racing through to find out WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO GIDEON AND JEREMY, it’s almost like you can relax right along with the characters.Overall I enjoyed this book a lot and will recommend it to friends! less
