Pienen mukavan lisäma... moreusteen kirjaan onneksi tuo mustalaiskulttuurin kuvaaminen. Ihan viihdyttävä, mutta kaukana loistavasta.
review 2: Just another OK book. I wonder why most books that I bought from bookshops, those that cost me RM30 and above, usually tend to turn out to be quite boring in the end. Perhaps I was blinded by the shelves of books there that I can't choose a decent book. Anyway, about this book, THE NOSTRADAMUS PROPHECIES by MARIO READING. Despite the face that this book carries the name of one of the most famous prophets in history, I don't really think it is relevant here. In the prologue Nostradamus did made a cameo. Heck he wasn't even named. He was simply called "the old man". Although the book revolves around the missing 58 quadrants from his 10 centuries, it was more like a hide-and-seek game. Almost half of the book describes how Bale, the antagonist, was chasing/stalking/watching over Sabir the trio. Sabir and his gypsies were, on the other hand, trying to avoid both Bale and Captain Claque while trying to recover the prophecies.Speaking of the process of recovering the prophecies, I would really want to compare it to the Da Vinci Code, but I really couldn't. Dan Brown's was more exciting and incorporated a lot of famous art works in his novel. Mario's clues were boring. They were written underneath the black virgins. After 3 virgins, the bamboo tube containing the prophecies was recovered, just like that.It was AFTER getting the prophecies that I began to dread through out the book. Probably I bought another book that I have been anticipating since March, or probably the Meset scene is really boring. However I did learnt a lot of things about the gypsy culture in this book. It was very detailed, well researched and intriguing. Based on the ending, I think Mario would write another sequel, which would revolves around Sabir's new shaman ability, and probably Yola's son. It might also involves the Second Coming and the Third Antichrist as well. Corpus Malefius/The Countess might play a bigger role in the sequel. Perhaps I might just give Mario Reading another chance. less

Generally good, but the violence/description of torture is not to my liking.

An interesting and intriguing story with a rather mysterious ending.
