review 1: Overall, I loved this book. The premise is that when her journalist mother gets assigned to a remote location, Nica has to settle down in a small town with her father for the first time, and things are not as safe and normal as they seem. There's mystery, there's superpowers, there are a lot of references to ecological soundness and evil tech corporations. It moves quickly, lots of things happen, and most importantly to me, the characters are round and believable. The only little quarrel I have with it is that some phrases get repeated. A lot. And that makes me a little bonkers. But, again, overall, I really loved it, so if that's not a thing that bothers you immensely, go for it.
review 2: This book was a breath of fresh air after months of reading semi alrigh
... moret books. At first, I wasn't too sure about this book. Once I really started reading it, I could not put it down. The main character is not your typical girly character. In fact, I would almost describe her as alternative. The storyline was incredibly intruiging. Not the repetitiveness of paranormal stories that have been completely redundant as of late. Be forwarned, it does look like this book will have a sequal. It was a great book and I am really looking forward to more coming from this author. less

I liked how, in the end, her father was really a government official.
