review 1: An excellent book, this book will trigger you to think on how to improve your blog dramatically. Few things I learn is that to write a really good blog is about writting in a story format, because we are some how attracted to story telling for a long time. We are hard wired to hear this type of stories, that will compel us to engage emotionally with the blog we read. The reason why most blogs are successful today because of the relationship that was formed with the readers who read the blog who got involved with the blog. The triumphs-- The defeat-- is revealing a story that could inspire them and impact their life for the better
review 2: My View:This was a fascinating introduction to the mysterious world of blogging, a world I have recently started to explore.
... more I hungrily devoured the pages of useful and reassuring information. It was important to me to hear experts validate some of my own discoveries;1. Write about your passions. (p.15)2. It takes time to find your blogging voice. (p.15) ( This is so true)3. Authentic helpfulness and reciprocity go along way. ( p.15)4. Your community has to be built patiently..... And like anything in life blogging takes a commitment. (p.16)5. It is not unusual to start in one direction and then end up someplace else! (p.17)Schaefer and Smith guide the reader through two scenarios – personal and business blogging and share some of their strategies for a successful foray into both categories. The writing is clear; the messages are delivered simply and supported by personal stories of trials and successes. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and have already put some of the advice into practice in my blog. Blogging is addictive – I can vouch for that. It can be immensely satisfying to put words onto a virtual page and even more satisfying to have others comment or *LIKE my posts. I was not really interested in reading the specific material aimed at the business blogger, however I was able to apply some of the knowledge shared here to my personal writings. Reading this book made me feel like I was taking part in a supportive “think tank.” And it did make me think and surely that is the best measure of any book. less
