review 1: I'm going to share this book with the YMCA after school childcare group at our local elementary. This book is oversized and Mark Teague offers colorful and interesting illustrations so it's great a read aloud. A slightly different twist on a traditional story. After I read it once, I think I will go back through the book and have the children look for the extra farm animals that appear in the illustrations, if they don't notice them during the 1st reading.

What makes this take unique – the third and smartest little pig is a sister. She takes her money and spends it responsibly. Her two brothers foolishly spend their money on j... moreunk food and low quality houses. She is the most dependable and in the end, actually guides her brothers and their houseguest into being much more responsible. It is a positive message even on a small scale. It was also interesting to note that the somewhat Bad Wolf is only acting out because he is starving and no one would allow him in their eating establishments. The illustrations add to the quality of the text. The pigs are bright and cheery which match their disposition. The length of text varies from one-liners to small paragraphs.
