review 1: What a contrast - the first third of the book is a story of Mike Talbot, a boy growing up in a sleepy Maine town, making friends, going off to college, etc. Normal stuff. Abruptly it throws you into the brutality of an alien enforced gladiator competition where Mike and 1000 or so other abductees are forced to participate in this alien entertainment as a prelude to invasion of earth. A wild and crazy concept, but it keep you on the edge of your seat.
review 2: I am fast becoming a Mark Tufo fan. His books are really in no way original, but I just love his humour and ability to tell an entertaining story. ... moreladiator style battles in an arena until death, mixed in with some background about the main character's teenage years and the friendships he has made (which I am sure will be further developed in the books to come), make for an entertaining story. So I think, if you are after a nice easy entertaining read with a bit of humour thrown in for good meaure - then you won't be disappointed. less
