review 1: DNF at 43% DNF at 43%. Everyone knows how Zombie stories go, so I will spare you the bleak plot of this one. At first I thought this book was hilarious. I had one or two good laugh out loud moments in the first chapter or two, but then the raunchy humor got old. It got old fast. If I was a pre-teen boy I might have enjoyed this book. There were plenty of poop, fart, and fat people jokes. The main character was excited about the idea of everyone in the world being wiped out by zombies. Not only that, but he was prepared for it. How convenient for him and his entire family. How is it that he was so prepared, but it took him 6 shots to even hit one of the zombies in the head? I do believe he said that he had his sons practice all the time at the shooting range. Did he skip th... moreese days too? I wanted a zombie book full of suspense, maybe a joke or two, this book did not deliver that. Usually I give every book 50% before I stop reading. This one wasn’t worth the time to get to that point. Don’t bother with this one.
review 2: I feel like I have read a million of these Journal type Zombie books. Not complaining, as some of those are still my favorite books, just pointing that out because there are times when I find myself bored with the same old same old. This wasn't one of those times. I saw some very valid points left in the negative reviews about editing and such. Depending on the storyline of a books, I might agree. But we are reading what was supposed to be someones Journal. Who has perfect grammar in a journal?! I think mistakes in this type of book are almost required (but thats just my opinion). I liked the book and plan on starting book 2 right away. The characters were written as if my specific interests were in mind but I can see how some people wouldn't find a gun loving prepper interesting :-)And there is a Rottie in it. Made me wonder how well MY Rotties would fare in a ZA...I dont have a lot of hope for the puppy. Lmao less

This is the best series I have ever read of this genre..ever. I loved the characters especially Tommy, the main male character and BT.The hero's inner monologues were very funny. This wasn't just about Zombies, it was about friends, family and loyalty. This made me laugh, cry and bite my nails.I don't know how but this author made me care about these characters. You know what, forget it because I can't really explain how much I loved this series, I just did, very, very much and when I read the last page of the last book of the series I felt as though I was leaving friends but I know I can always revisit them anytime I want to.Mr.Tufo, if you ever write a series similar to this again could please put a woman of color in. I'm sure we would definitely survive, maybe even an interracial one. Anyway, that was my only problem with this, no woman of dolor survived. I loved this series anyway though.

Wow, I sat down with this book expecting a serious zombie apocalypse thriller and ended up with a hilarious, non-stop action adventure with a lovable wise-cracking schadenfreudistic hero that just happens to be set in the zombie apocalypse setting. Numerous times I found myself comparing him to another of my favorite characters, Harry Dresden...the humor was that good. I even referred a friend to this book with the comment "think Harry Dresden, but as a former marine and in a zombie apocalypse."I will definitely read the rest of this series and I am so glad I found this treasure from just checking the genre lists in Goodreads!
