review 1: Lucas goes beyond the notion of self-help with her latest book. It's not a series of ideas that worked for the author that she is now sharing in hopes that others will implement these tactics to improve their life. She does a phenomenal job combining neuroscience and meditation to show us how we can improve our relationships. And she offers real-life stories to demonstrate just how well these techniques work and how our brain is wired. This book offered me greater understanding into how I interact with people the way that I do. RYBFL is about understanding that when it comes to change we are in charge of our lives, and we can begin to work on change at the most basic level of our body's makeup--our cells (brain cells to be precise). Because it's our brain that hinders or h... moreelps us, so that's where the good work must begin. This book combines neuroscience, humor, and meditation in an easy-to-follow manner. One of the things I thoroughly enjoy about this book is the manner in which Lucas writes about brain science. While the brain is quite fascinating, it's also majorly intimidating; however, the ease in which Lucas lays out the foundation of neuroscience is conversational, clear, and concise. The stories were particularly engaging and enlightening, and they helped me to understand how I relate to people--both personally and professionally. Reading this book has given me a greater understanding for how my past has affected my relationships today. Through the practices of mindfulness meditation, which Lucas so purposely and wonderfully outlines at the end of each chapter, helps us to recognize that our life much like our brain is moldable. With a little bit of practice, each day, I look forward to improving my relationships.
review 2: This book mixes mindfull meditation with neuroscience and relationship. It helps to understan ours reaction towards other people that are or could be for us significative. It's clear and well written and for every problem, like anger for example, it helps you to get the right relaxation and meditation and, in the same time, it explains what is changing in your brain.THANKS TO NETGALLEY AND HAY HOUSE FOR THE PREVIEW less
