review 1: This was pretty bad. I thought the writing was mediocre and the plot predictable. I knew going in that there was a big twist at the end; I don't think I'm exceptionally brilliant, but I had the "big twist" figured out within the first quarter of the book. It was certainly easy to read and was fast, which was good because I wouldn't have wanted to lose any more time to reading it. My other complaint? The title is completely meaningless to the book and the cover art hints at the "big twist" ending but nothing else. And I feel like both (title and cover art) are designed to sell books, not to relate to the book. Underwhelmed.
review 2: 2.5 stars. I was totally entertained by this novel; it's one of those compulsively readable thrillers. I like how these kin
... mored of novels suck you in and tighten their grasp on you as the end nears. And I'd say there is some definite cleverness to the crafting of this plot. That said, a couple things completely annoyed me about it. First, I was bothered that the single person of color in the novel is a bad guy. (Not cool, Mary Kubica.) And the other thing was one character's over the top opposition to abortion that came off preachy and annoying. But overall it was an entertaining read. less
