review 1: I'm reading it just to finish it at this point. So far I have been so distracted by the typos (my favorite: "Verlaque didn't like the typography of Provence. He was always complaining of the lack of green grass and cows.") and so bored by the slow pacing of the details that it's easy to forget it's a mystery. Verlaque is a French Frasier Crane in his snobby attitude of refinement, which I like. But I'm hoping that all these mundane conversations about cigars and wine lead somewhere.
review 2: I really enjoyed Death at the Chateau Bremont by M.L. Longworth. Set in France, I loved the French feel of it and the French language scattered throughout. In fact, I'm fairly certain that it was written in French and translated to English and it had a few minor issues bec
... moreause of that. I loved the chemistry between Verlaque and Bonnet. And, this felt like a good old-fashioned mystery that the clues kept it moving at a swift pace, but there was no need for violence to keep it action packed. I hope she continues to write mysteries with these characters. less
