review 1: Unexpectedly Milo is a book which makes you take a small break from the life and have a good look at yourself. It works as a mirror when you realize that probably at some level you are no different than Milo. Because of his medical condition Milo is forced to hide a big part of his personality from the people he loves. He is scared of being judged so he keeps his 'weirdness'only to himself, only to feel alone and burdened with his secrets. And you realize that you are also leading your life in the same way..keeping part of yourselves hidden- not to be accessed, pretending to be something you are not because you want to be accepted and you wonder, 'I feel what you are going through Milo.. I'm with you!'.
review 2: An interesting story about a 30-something guy wh
... moreo has been hiding his compulsions - not typical OCD type compulsions, but more sensory-seeking ones - from everyone for most of his life. His marriage is suffering, and his discovery of a video diary on tapes - abandoned on a park bench - propels him into a road trip that changes his life. The compulsions are hilarious, actually (one of the most common ones is his need to open a jar of jelly. Milo has a stash of unopened grape Smucker's in his trunk for emergencies), though the book doesn't mock them at all. It reminds me of Jessica Thom's approach to her tics in "Welcome to Biscuitland".I'll definitely read more by Dicks. less

Sweet story of the quirks that we all have and how one man indulges them while keeping them secret.
