review 1: I'm not a graphic novel fan. I completely understand why they are so popular and how they can help struggling readers to become better readers by teaching them to visualize pictures while they read. Because I have vivid visuals in my mind as I read, the graphic novels conflict with these images sometimes, and that's why I prefer not to read them. I "force" myself to read a few each year so I can have conversations with students, and that's why I read this one.I really liked this graphic novel; zombies continue to be a hot commodity, and it was fun reading this. It only took me about 30 minutes to read this and the photos enhanced the storyline, and I did not find them distracting as I usually do. I can see why this book is so popular with teen boys at my sc... morehool.
review 2: Basically this is a series of vignettes though out time where humans faced Zombies (from the Prehistoric times to the 90s) Some folks may not like some of the historical inaccuracies - such as being off by a century or two in certain descriptions and drawings (i.e. drawing a 19th century town like its the 1700s or something, or referring to a slave uprising in 18 something that really happened 100 years earlier) - or so I've read in other reviews, but seriously guys the title of the book is THE ZOMBIE SURVIVAL GUIDE okay, so my benefit goes to Brooks and his Illustrator hands down, they can do whatever they want, besides none of those things detract from the story AT ALL. The entire book was efficient, fast-paced, and highly entertaining. I also enjoy the entire concept as a whole, my one criticism is that I wish there was more - the stories seem like they could of been the beginning of a larger, more comprehensive project that was never fully realized. But it's awesome - A zombie book by Max Brooks being a good read is a no-brainer (no pun intended). less

The thing I liked best about world war z was the way it used oral history to tell the story. So when I found a comic book version of the historical attacks I had to get a copy. This was really great, there were few words and the story was mostly told through the pictures which worked really well in the comic book format. The historical stories were great coming from all over the globe with only the very last story taking place in the US. It really gave a good global and historical setting. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was that 95 percent of the stories involved only men.

I have not completed reading The Zombie Survival Guide written by Max Brooks, so I guess I can't be disappointed by the duplication of information from the written to the graphic form of the novel. I enjoyed Brooks' representation of historical events, and Ibraim Roberson's illustrations. To me, however, this is only an accompanying graphic display of The Zombie Survival Guide; short and entertaining. I only wish there had been more alternative explanations for actual historical events or practices, such as: the removal of the brains in mummies, and the significance behind Hadrian's wall.

Unfortunately felt like a filler book. It was fun but just a little too thin.

I didn't like this book. It is about how to survive a zombie.

Loved it. Need more of these bits of zombie history.
