review 1: What's the plot of this series?? Anyone??? No??? Well that's ok, I can't find it either...So this volume of Demon Love Spell features a fox demon, a one-eyed demon, and of course, horny Kagura. I don't get the hype for this series. Anyway, Kagura is still trying to have at it with Miko even though she constantly tells him that she doesn't feel comfortable having sex. So she comes up with this "lovey dovey day" meaning Kagura can do whatever he wants on that day (except sex), however he cannot grab her or try anything on any other day. But because of this demon that day is ruined for Kagura and nothing actually happens. I guess I'm supposed to swoon and fall head of heals for this "romance", but I just can't seem to get in to it. First off, it's nothing but insta-love. Seco... morend, the main character is constantly being used by these guys that she has no backbone. And third, there is no plot!!!! It's really frustrating!I wish I could say more but I really can't. There's nothing really memorable here. I just read this and I can barely recall what's important. But maybe that's just me?
review 2: We start this volume with the story of a lonely fox demon, who is following Miko around, because he feels that she is the shrine maiden he fell in love with some many years ago. This is making her mate, Kagura, extremely angry. Sadly, we find out that she is not the girl he loves, and that she only looks alot like her. His love died 3 years ago. At first, he cannot accept this. But, he comes to terms with it, when he sees her grave and feels her spirit resonating from it. In a sad but beautiful display of true love, affection, and devotion, the fox demon dies there on her grave in the snow.--------------- In the second story, Miko has promised Kagura a "Lovey-Dovey Day". In exchange for him not constantly groping her and carrying on, he can do whatever he wants to her on that day, except have sex with her. As much as Miko swears to herself that she will find a way out of it, she finds herself realizing that the love she has for Kagura is truly making her want it, perhaps even more than he does. But, it turns out that she is possessed on that day by a demon wanting to save his sister. The demon wants her to kill Kagura and give him the powers Kagura has in return. However, when Miko tries, Kagura's love reminds her of her love for him, and brings her back to in a brilliant display of love and emotion. She could never bring herself to actually kill the man she loves, so she promises him sex if he will save the sister of the demon. After Kagura saves the demon's sister, Miko tells him that the promise of sex was a lie. Strange as it seems, that doesn't bother Kagura as much as one would think. It's wonderful how both have now realized how strong their love--and, therefore, bond--for one another is.----------------- This is a series I will gladly keep following. It's one of Mayu's best works in my opinion.---------------- This volume was provided to me by VIZ Media, via Edelweiss, in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed here are my own. less
