review 1: I read this because I am looking to add more books on bullying to my middle school library. While I can't use this is middle school, I do think it was a good book. I never related to the characters but I liked the way Meg Medina showed that bullying affects more than just school life of the victim. I hope that she writes a sequel about Yaqui and talks about her previous experiences that have lead her to be what she is in this book.
review 2: A realistic, unflinching look at a bright girl, named Piddy, and her troubles with a bully. The book does not sugarcoat. ... moreell drawn and very realistic. This book, I think, gets very close to the issue of bullying in schools in that often, bullying has no particular reason, and schools are often helpless or limited in what they can do to protect students. Despite that, I was pleased by the ending; it offered hope. Things can be done if one asks for help, and often, the asking is the most difficult part. less
