review 1: Summertime. Somehow, all the children wend their way back home for various reasons. The interactions between adult children and their parents and the grandchildren are right on for emotional rehashing of past issues as well as working through adult relationships, and can we possibly have more drama around CHILDREN??? I loved it, especially the grandparental point of view, because now my own parents are the "oldest generation" and they are dealing with all of us and our kids. Nice insights. Lots of emotions. And plenty of what it feels like to have everyone in the house, breathing and sleeping and reminding of the past and dealing with laundry and food and territory.
review 2: It's not that this book wasn't good, it's just I felt like I've read this same exact s
... moretory in other novels. Premise: the grown up children (and it's always 3 siblings) come home to mom ands dad's to escape their troubles in their marriage, jobs or money issues. Nothing really happened either and what did was predictable. When I first started reading it I was excited about the potential story lines with these characters, but ultimately it fell flat. It was a sweet story, I just wish there was more depth and less droning on about the mothers new washing machine. less
