review 1: I'm usually a big fan of Melissa Hill but this was a bit of a let down. May have been because it was a short story but there just wasn't much in it.The book is about Maia a 45 year old woman who moved from Ireland to Sorrento with her husband. After he dies suddenly she's left to try to find the money to support herself and renovate the home they bought together. She opens it as a guest house and the book follows her opening week and the guests who stay.I couldn't really connect with Maia as a character. She acted like her life was over and spent most of her time giving advice and reminiscing about her husband. She was all knowing and seemed more like a 65 year old than a 45 year old. The other characters with problems including an ex getting married, father dying and marr... moreiage problem seemed to get them sorted after a glass of wine and a bit of a chat. If only things were that simple.Overall an ok quick read but nothing special.
review 2: I saw this book on amazon for free and thought it would be a nice quick read and wasn’t disappointed.Cover! This cover is Perfect, it's has a real summer feel to it, what more can I say!We meet Maia who moved to Sorrento with her husband expecting to have life of retirement and fulfillment, but when her husband suddenly dies, Maia is left to pick up the pieces of their dream  Determined to not give up that dream, but with money tight Maia decides to turn the house in to a guest house.Melissa describes in detail the hills around Sorrento and I can say this if you didn’t want to go before you will after reading this.Maia is a lovely character, although faced with tragic circumstances is determined to make the most of life, she has pearls of wisdom for her visitors who treat her not only as the host of the guest house but as a friend as well.We learn so much about all the characters in a short space of time and I really found this kept flowing and moving the story along, I was only sad when it ended as I want it to go on longer but I see this is the first in a series of these books, can’t want to read more.A beautiful story set in a beautiful place less
