review 1: I really just could not get into this book, which is a bit of a shame because it had such an interesting premise. Yet every time I picked it up, I just felt that everything I read was matter-of-fact at best and not written in such a way as to allow me to really get excited about the story or care about the characters and what happened to them. When I put it down, I really had to convince myself to pick it back up again. It had enough going for it that I did finish it, and it did get slightly more interesting at the very end, but honestly, I was disappointed and overall found the book pretty forgettable.
review 2: It was OK. Not really Gothic. I think the humans in the story are really at a disadvantage. The creatures of The Ending never died, yet they could bec
... moreome mutilated in some fashion, always able to come back & bother the main characters. YET, the creatures could a)enter the humans world(as long as there was a 'portal', b)disguise themselves to look human & cause trickery c) inflict harm to the humans d)kill the humans e)influence humans through their dreams f)capture the spirit of a dead person and keep them in The Ending, not really dead or alive less
