review 1: A quick short story involving our favorite characters Hadrian and Royce set after the events of The Rose and The Thorn. It is a shame that this couldn't have been become a full length novel, perhaps bringing in some new characters although they would be one time participants, not continuing in the Revelations.This now brings my reading of all published Riyria to a close. I look forward and hope to see another full length novel someday from Michael Sullivan in this series.
review 2: This was a free download from audible and a sample from a collection of short stories by authors that I do enjoy reading. I will probably buy that book Unfettered, at some point. This is just one short story from the book. I have not read any other Sullivan books yet. I was... more intrigued enough that I will probably pick up one of his books in the future. I think that this story was a little fast paced and too packed with story-- like a mini condensed book, instead of a short story. **stop here for spoilers***I knew right at the start that there would be no treasure. The way it was worded and that it was made by a Jester were dead give-aways. Each of the members of the group had a piece of a treasure map, and this map would guide them to treasure. We find out in the end that the true treasure is freedom. The people made a choice and those who chose wrong died. They had been searching for a week, and were on their last bit of food and energy. They had battled great monsters and defeated riddles. Personalities had conflicted, but the two friends/thieves from his other novels were the ones who walked away alive and free. less
