review 1: Its refreshing to read something simple once in a while. This book had good humor like its predecessors. The author says, he wanted to write a simple story (a string of stories in fact) without much complexity. So, even though its on the expected lines mostly, the story's strength is its simplicity and its characters. At the very beginning i hated Arista and Alric, and could not tell Hadrian from Royce. But now, I like each of them so much. Have to wait to see how Esrahaddon and Arcadius turn out, something fishy going on there. Right now, those two along with Merrick seem so out of place in this story. On to the next one..

... morenly as something to read while we wait for Rothfuss to finish up his next book...This sounds more bleak than it is, and I really have nothing against Sullivan, I just feel like the plots are a bit too obvious, the characters a tad too fake, and the storyline just not quite deep enough for my liking. I do like that this has the epic feel of Game of Thrones where you really wonder how it's all going to end though. less

The start was a bit slow, but then the story picked up pace and I can't wait to read the next book

Better than the first two by a large margin. Plot begins to thicken.

As per the previous books in the series, this too was a great read.
