review 1: I could have gone either way on 4 or 5 stars. Although I am a fantasy buff that dabbles in a bit of sci-fi, something about the plague/uncontrolled virus stories have always held my interest. So I gave this one a chance, and I am glad I did. The plot is great. The main character is someone easy to relate to. In the end, I went with 4 stars due to the slightly annoying flashbacks (which are a necessary evil to understand the protagonist) and due to the limited dialogue. But the book is good enough to stand on its own just as it is. I WILL buy the next one.
review 2: Honestly? I really like the plot and idea behind the book but there was soooooo much telling and background that I got bored. I want to know what happens with the sickness, but I don't think I
... more could read anymore. I didn't get the horror or scary that the other reviews talked about. Nothing even made me tense. If there had been more telling and more dialogue (which there was hardly any) I would have enjoyed it way more, and gave more stars. less
