review 1: Eat mindfully and with intention for a healthier you! This is an easy read and very interesting book. May breaks down the destructive eating cycles that cause us to over eat or make the wrong choices. She successfully takes the emotion out of it and puts you in charge of yourself! If you feel victimized by restricting you’re eating, failing, and suffering the regret of “if I only didn’t.”… Then this is the book for you.She identifies the thought processes and explains how to correct your thinking. It is all about being in charge, not being controlled. Dieting never works—it is your mindset that allows you to succeed and to change behaviors. She teaches you how to question yourself on what you are choosing so that you are happy about your choices. May shares gr... moreeat stories that help you get to the point quickly. She articulates plans that work and she categorizes several types of “eating disorders” like -restrictive diets, or the “eat, overeat- and repent eater.” She explains what’s wrong with these cycles and gives you tools to cope and change how you think about these behaviors. If what you do isn’t giving you balance and making you happy, why continue the destructive behavior? She helps you learn new ones. Learn how the instinctive eating cycle brings intention and purpose into your life. It is about your life and not just about the food! Her recipes are terrific. She devotes full chapters on defining carbs, proteins and fats; so whether you are a novice or an expert, you gain new knowledge. This is a proactive self help that can help you kick start for the long term and for the last time. This is a sensible and refreshing mental look that can change your bad habits. Being mindful and happy about your choices brings you success and better health. She offers strategies and many take away thoughts that keep you on the right path.Well done!I received a complimentary copy as part of the Review the Book team.
review 2: I found this book on an email generated by Amazon.com that recommended some texts that I might have an interest in. This book exceeded my expectations. Just about 400 pages of the whole process of restructuring your thoughts about health and wellness. I LOVED the graphs and pictures in the book. They helped me to understand the message that Dr. May was trying to get across. The WRITE-YOUR-OWN-RECIPE salad bar spreadsheet was outstanding and you can find it on page 358. I found myself pouring over it with my husband to get new ideas on how to get some protein in! less
