review 1: I have always been obsessed with the Amityville Horror story. Maybe because I went to high school (albeit, nearly 2 decades later) with one of the girls killed in the real story. And also, my previous chiropractor went to school with her, so there's that... I really liked this story and the way Ostow weaved together two separate stories that take place ten years apart. I found the book eerie, and to be very much a page turner from the very beginning. The only thing I found a little confusing were the characters. The stories take place ten years apart and focus on siblings all the same age. Sometimes I just had to recheck whose story I was reading or which character had which sibling. All in all, if you like horror, read this!
review 2: Thanks to Netgalley and E
... moregmont USA for providing me with this free eARC. I wanted to like this book, I really did, however this book just didn't do anything for me. It takes place in both the present day with teenager Gwen who has major issues, and ten years previously with Connor, a budding psychopath, and his family. Gwen is definitely the more like-able of the two. I did like some of the paranormal aspects, but it wasn't very scary. Overall, I found the characters and the plot overwhelmingly flat. The ending seemed really rushed as well. less

ARC from NetGalley. Thank you NetGalley. I liked it, but it didn't really live up to the hype.
