review 1: Great art and a good story - I'm excited to see where the series goes from here! The inclusion of Rudyard Kipling's story at the end really cinched my curiosity and made me wonder whether this story will take a direction towards addressing the character of Locke and the "faction" he works for, or if it will focus more on Tommy's story - where he came from, who he is, if he's magic, etc. Either way, this is shaping up to be one hell of a graphic novel.I do really want to know how much money Tommy was making off of his father's estate before they started questioning his parentage... it couldn't be that much, right?
review 2: A really amazing start to what should be a good series (it gives the impression of being tightly written, so I hope that's true and not just
... more a hook-- but this is the writer of the Lucifer series, so I have high hopes).Contains a lot of insights about literature as propaganda and as free expression, of some of the more annoying tropes of modern literature, and about the nature of reality... plus it's just a lot of intrigue with fantasy mixed in. And don't you want to know how Rudyard Kipling was involved in a vast, evil conspiracy? less
