review 1: Yaaahhh! What was that!I hate Conan the Barbarian. I don't like pugs. Then why did I read it?... I don't know. It was spur of the moment and I regret it.Here is one thing I know though. I hate it! While the artwork is well done, the story is just garbage. The author might think his clever and all, with this twists and alternate realities and cross overs... and the fan service... this is one is a terrible fan fiction! Fan fiction is quite known for many horrible... horrible... everything but this one is a whole new level of low.And that naked narrator, I fear she will get frostbitten. Castles well known for being drafty and chilly and people could freeze in it. Then, there she is all naked, in the top of the tower, at night, with windows open... she is probably dead.I reall... morey regret reading it.
review 2: This is visually wonderful and I imagine is a must-read for pug owners/fanatics.It's a parody on the Conan/Adventurer genre. It seemed as though the visual elements took precedence over the story. Whatever the story lacks the art makes up for though.The only thing I found to truly diminish/cheapen the work was the Story Teller who relates the tale of Battlepug to her two dogs. It's not really her, but her wardrobe. By that I mean there is no wardrobe, unless you count tribal sleeve tattoos as clothing.Just seemed like a cheap device to entice male readers. I was enticed by the title and almost didn't give it a chance because of the overly voluptuous woman on the cover. I am glad that I did give it a chance though, and I eagerly anticipate the next volume. less
