review 1: The epic saga of the last Kinmundian and his fawn friend continues as they go toe-to-toe with Catwulf, the evil villain who destroyed the Kinmundian warriors Homeland. It's got all the humour you come to expect from Battlepug, plus some hilarious new characters. As a comedic action narrative it does a great job of transitioning from one arc to the next. Book 2 of a (planned) 5 book series is a winner.
review 2: Continuing my Mike Norton kick.I actually wasn't that excited to get Volume 2 of Battlepug, because I didn't really care for Volume 1 that much. I love the concept I guess, I love all-ages comics, I love Conan, etc. But the first volume seemed to have humor that was a little too stupid for me, a story that was really TOO fast paced (I know I know, it's a
... morewebcomic), and yeah - left me wanting a lot more.I don't know if it's just where I'm at and what I've been reading or what, but I found this volume to be a bit better than the first. It's still short and still reads like a webcomic, but the adventure and the pace of it really makes sense in this volume - and it ends with a nice cliffhanger to keep us waiting for volume 3.It's fun, it's silly, all of that. I don't think the "present time" page interludes with Moll and the dogs are really necessary, though I'm sure they'll be tied in eventually, but the introduction of Bryony in this and the simple fact that she curses every time she speaks - it's pretty funny. It kind of ends the whole "all ages" concept (I mean Moll was naked from the get go, so maybe it's my OWN tagging of "all ages"), but yeah, the cursing is a cheap laugh, but it's pretty on point here. The size of the book really ruins decent shelving options, but Norton's bright and playful drawing really uses the medium well.THAT WHALE THO. less

First addition here to be read on my tablet. Still profoundly daft.

Great artwork but story is fairly typical fantasy fare.
