review 1: Very easy to read, somehow inspiring with some clever advice on note-taking. Nothing truly new or mind-opening, but anyway worth reading since it emphasises key points to keep in mind such as not trying to capture everything (focus on the essentials), use metaphors, apply design principles for highlighting and readability (typography, contrast, grouping, margins, white space...).I think the author pays too much attention to the use of typography. Quite too often it looks like merely decorative, getting the reader distracted from the actual content. Beautiful? yes, probably. Useful? I think we can discuss about it... but anyway, the book reads in a couple of seats and provides some nice examples (from the book's author and some other artists).
review 2: Picked t... morehis book up mostly to - improve my flipchart skills. I do a lot of workshops & trainings. using flipchart only.- improve the book summary notes I try to create to help me think and process booksSo far I have very limited visual/sketchnoting skills. I have watched a video tutorial from Sunny Brown on sketchnoting and also been using the awesome "bikablo" serier for a few months. From this book I got many examples from different people's sketchnotes. Also some guidelines and tips, including on what pen's people like. I suspect materials I use is not my main limitation right now though ;-)Cool book, being completely in sketchnote format. A quick and good read. Three starts since I had seen most things before. Sunny Browns approach in her video was also more of a tutorial style, which suited my needs. less
