review 1: 5.5 years ago, Eleanor and Max had boners for one another before she discovered a bet made by some of his "friends". Then, they run into each other while babysitting horny teenagers. Will six chapters be enough for them to get over her aversion to marriage, and Max's many flaws?1. For a short story, WOW DID THIS FEEL LONG? But not necessarily in a good way? It just seemed to drag on and on--Eleanor was just too passionately opposed to Max and there wasn't too much in the way of Max's internal monologue to offset her. 2. Caro seems...headstrong and foolish? I will eventually read her novel, I'm sure, but I'm not necessarily looking forward to it.
review 2: I like the story surrounding Eleanor and Quinn. But when the younger couple - her air headed cousin, Caro,... more and his young charge Robert - things starts to get wonky. Eleanor and Quinn met 5 years ago but because of a bet and a misunderstand don't get married. Caro and Robert run away together to Gretna Green to get married. I think this marriage came together more out of spite to Caro's mother than real love towards each other. But throughout all of these secret meetings between Caro and Robert her managing and level headed cousin, Eleanor, never noticed anything. less
