review 1: This is one of my favorite books. I love Cain, the bad boy who isn't really a bad boy, and I love Jessica, who is doing her best in an unsympathetic world. The book world background is fascinating—I love when books introduce me to things I don't know about—and the conflicts and difficulties are utterly believable. I am happiest when books have a plot to go along with the romance, and Ms Neville does a wonderfu job on all fronts.
review 2: For me this book had a rather slow start, the very beginning was good right off you have a murder and it set's what should have been the tone for the book. But sadly that tone doesn't carry over into the story until you are half way through. I will say that there were some great plots going on though, between Chase and Ju... moreliana they both have plenty of problems and mysteries. But this too seemed to come late in the story and then a rather abrupt climax, I would have enjoyed a slow build throughout and while the ending was good, it would have been nice to see Juliana with blood family that was still alive. I know I'm a dreamer but there it is. Over all I would give this book 3 stars. less
