The Earl and The Fairy
review 1: Ultimately, a 3.5 for me. The first two volumes were solid fours, with depth in plot and gorgeous shading (the eyes!!! o_O) but the 3rd book started off a little rocky and from there the last volume plummeted while they tried to wrap up loose ends and failed. The whole ending was rushed. Possibly the author thought the series would be more popular and had to end it earlier than anticipated? I'm not sure. It just doesn't feel satisfying to me. But the art never deviates, and that is why I am able to still up my rating a bit. A little plus is are the (duh) nods on fairy folklore, which was obviously studied for this series.
review 2: You finally get the most revealing hints at Edgar and Raven's past, but they still don't spell everything out. Lydia does get taken
... more seriously now though because they see something they can't explain through other means and her knowledge saves the day (even though she does need Edgar to do it). Niko is still fascinating in that he tends to provide just enough of a hint without explaining things for everyone else to solve the puzzle. Unfortunately, this is the last volume. While they picked a good place to end, I really wanted to see more of their adventures.Surprisingly, there wasn't very much violence in this one. With the people Raven had already killed, I was expecting more, but there was mostly a lot of tension and expectancy rather than fighting. The Victorian feel continues in this with very little contact between any of the characters especially between Lydia and Edgar. He does act like he's getting "intimate" with Rosalie to get information out of her but the extent of that is touching her face while they sit on the floor. less

I just love that the Earl is a very bad man! I'll be sorry when she "tames" him....

I expected "more" romance from them at the ending but still it was a good volume.
