The Black Sun's Daughter
review 1: Here's where the series starts to pick up - at least in the very last scene! Now there's no way that I can stop! I have to read the next installment. This episode has a lot of growing for Janye. Learning the truth behind things is often painful and yet, knowing the truth can be liberating. Janye learns this on a few levels in this book. There's still no details yet on the Black Sun and why the series is called the Black Sun's Daughter. I thought by now we would know. At the same time, it's refreshing to read a series that isn't spelling every detail in the mythos right out of the gate. It gives the feeling that the reader is growing along with the characters in understanding and appreciating the multiple layers of an enhanced reality.
review 2: The series keeps
... more getting better! We get to see the characters developed a bit more and I'm glad to see Aubrey go. I guess some may like him, but his character seems a bit wimpy in my opinion. The internment and its repercussions made the book for me. Not because I enjoyed the internment, but because it showed that life isn't all fluff and stuff. Sometimes you just have to do something you didn't think you ever could to protect humanity. The feel for this book is starting to remind me of Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan series. The worlds aren't similar, but there's a darkness, or maybe a melancholy, to the main character. less

The series started to gel for me in this one. Payoff on groundwork laid in first two books.
