The Black Sun's Daughter
review 1: This 3rd in series about Jayne Heller- who inherited abilities and fortune of her uncle Eric after his death. This book is the darkest of the series (at least so far), and her actions become quite Machiavellian, especially in the last half. The final solution for defeating the bad guy (the "rider") was pretty ruthless. Many will consider that Jayne joined the forces of evil through that act. There was a little too much angst and description about relationships and appropriateness of intended actions in some parts (for me). Still, overall, a good story.
review 2: Very difficult to rate it. I read it just to know more about the secret, but it felt flat. The suspense is, well...it's just too long, too stretched out. In my opinion, there were too many unnecessa
... morery things and situations that you can feel like the writer just tried to fill in the gaps. And the dialogue...it just didn't seam real. As many times as I tried to look past it, I caught myself thinking - people don't talk like that! All in all, I was disappointed. Don’t know if I will continue to read these series. less

Solid and well-developed. I am completely intrigued by the progress.
