review 1: I freaking loved this book. The two sisters who get along and care about each other. The snark. The first date scene, the self-defense advice dance, and the heroine/hero figuring out that they are more than just associates. And did I mention the snark? If you like humor with your romance, this is a must read. However, I'm going to pause on this series, and go back and read the Nice Girls books, as this book has characters from that story, and seems like the series is going to be a "what about..." for the supporting characters.
review 2: Half-Moon Hollow is a wonderful, quirky little town, full of both humans and vampires. Iris Scanlon has created a niche for herself by running a business that caters to vampires' daytime needs such as shopping and running
... moreerrands. Staying clear of her clients during nighttime hours, Iris's only contact with vampires is the local governing council. However, when she finds her newest client, Cal, lying poisoned on his kitchen floor, Iris cannot say no to his request for help. Now Iris finds herself neck-deep in life-or-death circumstances beyond her control. Stray Vampires is a fun story told from the first person POV of heroine Iris Scanlon. Even though she's pretty smart and has done well for herself - starting her own business and raising her 17-year old sister as her own - trouble just seems to land at Iris's feet. She finds herself in all different precarious situations, but fortunately she also seems to get out of them, body and soul intact. Sometimes I felt Iris took some stupid chances, but in the end, she manages just fine. The story definitely falls in the "chic-lit," light paranormal realm, and so Iris's behavior and situations fit with the overall tone and feel of the book. The plot of the book centers on the mystery of who is trying to poison vampires. Cal, the primary detective on the case, must stay hidden and rely Iris for help, which rubs him the wrong way for a while. Couple this with his life span, and Cal finds it very difficult to express or share any emotion. At times I wish the story was also told from Cal's POV, so we'd have insight into his feelings and thought process.Narrator Amanda Ronconi has the perfect voice for Iris's upbeat, positive nature. She alters her voice slightly for all of the characters, with varying degrees of success. I found her female characters strongest, with Cal's voice a bit too sluggish sounding for my preference, although it wasn't bad and didn't bother me greatly. The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires is a quick listen, enjoyable and mostly conflict free. It's light and fluffy, which sometimes is just what is needed. less

It was cute. Nothing groundbreaking or earth-shattering good, but a fun, enjoyable read.

Not quite as funny as the Jane Jameson series, but still a good book.
