review 1: The English destroyed her village, raped and killed her mother and then threw her down a well to starve to death. Gregor "Arrow" MacGregor found her, pulled her out of the well and since she had no more family, he sent her to live with his mother. Caitrina was 15 years old then. She is no longer 15 but 20 years old now and she's ready for Gregor to finally notice her as a woman and not a child.Monica McCarty writes a magnificent Highlander! The Highland Guard is a brilliant series! When the Phantom's are good, they are REALLY good but when they are bad, sometimes their transgressions are unforgivable. Let me just say that Gregor "Arrow" MacGregor deserved everything he suffered and more for what he put her through. The name of this book might be The Arrow but it is... more Caitrina that shines through. Everything she does she leads with her heart. Though she is trained to protect herself physically, it is her heart that needs protecting. Wonderful character! I can't wait to read more of this amazing series.Received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
review 2: I absolutely loved this book! It drew me in from the first pages and I couldn't put it down until the end. I read this one first and j haven't read the rest of the series yet, however it is its own story. It was very well written with a wonderful story line. The characters were well developed and you really got into their heads. It was perfect for a romance novel with a few plot twists and plenty of steamy scenes in storage rooms. I laughed, I almost cried and I felt so happy at the end. And the end really completed the story perfectly, this isn't one of those books that leaves you with questions and feeling disappointed once it's over. I can't wait to read the rest of the series! less
