review 1: Really enjoyed the book. I like the fact that not a page in the book is wasted with pointless information nothing to do with the story. I like it that Elizabeth and Simon have their mission and all they want to do is see the mission through (no spoilers) which they do. I also liked how even being told that they have a grim event occurring in their future they still focus on their mission. Can't wait to Read book six of the series
review 2: Full disclosure: I was offered an ARC of the book and asked to review it, though that in no way has influenced my opinions. I love these books- the character and plot development, the feeling of visiting different times and places, all of it. This book delved a little more deeply into the paranormal (though, like the first, m
... moreanaged to do it without being over-the-top and ham-handed), and I was happy to see more of Simon in this book. Martin's done a good job of keeping Simon and Elizabeth's relationship developing, but I'll admit to missing some of the spark from the first few books. The author also did a good job touching on some of the and unavoidable sadder aspects of history, such as slavery- a difficult topic to handle sensitively without weighing the story down.I look forward to these books and hope to see more! less
